The plot of Diesel is set in the coastal area of North Chennai. The story follows a fishing community whose lives are turned upside down when a massive crude oil pipeline is built along their shores. This project ruins their fishing grounds due to which protests break. To support the struggling families, a man named Manohar (Sai Kumar) begins a secret mission to steal oil from the pipeline, sell it, and use the money for the area's welfare. The hero of the story is Vasu, popularly known as ""Diesel Vasu"" (Harish Kalyan). He is Manohar’s adopted son. He is a smart chemical engineer.
