The plot of Diesel is set in the coastal area of North Chennai. The story follows a fishing community whose lives are turned upside down when a massive crude oil pipeline is built along their shores. This project ruins their fishing grounds due to which protests break. To support the struggling families, a man named Manohar (Sai Kumar) begins a secret mission to steal oil from the pipeline, sell it, and use the money for the area's welfare. The hero of the story is Vasu, popularly known as ""Diesel Vasu"" (Harish Kalyan). He is Manohar’s adopted son. He is a smart chemical engineer. Vasu takes over the oil-stealing operation and becomes a modern-day Robin Hood. He uses clever tricks, like hiding stolen fuel inside ice cubes, to move the oil and fund the neighbourhood. His work makes him a hero to the locals but earns enmity with a corrupt police officer, DCP Mayavel (Vinay Rai), and a dangerous rival named Balamurugan. As the danger increases, Vasu faces deep personal loss and a complicated romance with a lawyer named Ananya (Athulya Ravi). The stakes get even higher when powerful businessmen and government officials try to take the community's land. Vasu eventually grows from a simple rebel into a powerful leader, organizing the people to stop the corporate takeover. Does he manage to expose the truth and win back justice for his community?
